As a frequent traveller to Orkney, I´d like to say what a magical place it is. The beauty of the islands, the friendliness of the people, and the hospitality one finds everywhere draws you back time and time again. Can´t wait to go back again!

4 x4 Photography Tours (with Mr K Flett) are a perfect way to explore and be outdoors in the very fresh air of the Orkney Islands, exciting yet peaceful and very beautiful scenery offers excellent photo opportunities and having a local show you the Islands fascinating history ensure you don't miss out on a thing.

A friend and I. from Canada, recently did a 2 day tour with Explore Orkney, a locally run Guide Company. We were on a very tight time schedule as we flew in one morning and flew out the next day around dinner time. We had a couple of sights that were our “must sees” but left the majority of our schedule up to Keith our tour guide. Fortunately for us, Keith was able to customize a tour to meet our particular needs and interests. Keith picked us up and dropped us off at the airport along with dropping us off at our B & B at the end of the day. This saved us not only time but money. With an insurmountable amount of sights to choose from, Keith made sure we saw the sights we wanted to but he also took us to ones he felt we should see. He started our tour extra early for us and ran late to accommodate our tight schedule. Some of the lesser known sites he took us to turned out to be the most exhilarating. I will never forget my time alone in one of the more isolated small Neolithic tombs. We were able to see many diverse sights and as much as anyone could have, given our very short stay. I came home with numerous books to read along with a countless amount of great memories and photos. I hope to go back to Orkney some day to further explore the fascinating sites with Keith and his son Kevin, as our guides. They brought home to me how this is not just about sight seeing but actually experiencing them along with grasping how rich and deep the Orcadian heritage and culture really is. This could only have been accomplished by people, like those of Explore Orkney, who have lived there for generations.
